850 MHz, 900 MHz,  1.8 GHz, 2.1 GHz for Virgin, Vodafone, Telstra, Optus, 3 

Combine a grid-pack 2.1 GHz and a yagi 900 MHz as shown here, with one of our diplexers and get 2.1 GHz broadband and 900 MHz GSM telephone.

Three combinations possible:

1. Highest Gain: 600mm 2100 MHz grid-pack (18.5dBi) + 12 element 900 MHz yagi (12dBi)  

2. High Gain: 400mm 2100 grid-pack (13.5dBi) + 5 element 900 MHz yagi (9dBi)

3. Medium Gain: LPDA 2100 MHz 11dBi + 9.5dBi 900 MHz 

The difference in gains between 900MHz  and 2100MHz  in combination 1, or combination 2, is equal to the aperture path loss 20 log 2100/900 = 7dB.

Therefore the twin antenna systems (one grid-pack and one yagi) are matched.

 

If you just want 2.1 GHz 3G phone, and 3.5G UMTS/HSDPA internet broadband, (eg Adelaide metro) then all you need is a 2.1 GHz antenna. 

900 MHz antennas give drop back capability to 2G GSM phone and 2.5G GPRS internet data. 

 

Customers typically report that with our antennas and cables they go from 

1.  1 or 2 bars GPRS (inside house) to 4 bars HSDPA with TDJ-200SPL4 

2.  -92dBm (inside house) to -50dBm rock solid signal with TDJ-2000SPL6

 

For Telstra Next G HSDPA (Telstra's version of 3G which is on 850 MHz) use our 850 MHz yagis and grid-pack antennas.

 

FAQ: Do I need a high gain antenna ?

You need to consider fade margins as it is wireless technology. Two main types of fading occur: 

Rayleigh fading, caused by multi-path, and Log-normal fading, which is produced by shadowing or signal diffraction from obstructions.

Higher gain antennas will produce a more reliable result.

 

Speeds: 

GPRS: up to 114 kbps down

UMTS: up to 2 Mbps down

HSDPA: up to 7.2Mbps down 

HSPA: up to 7.2Mbps down, 2.0 Mbps up 

Speeds will usually be slower (depends on your ISP and Plan)

 

The bottom line: You need 850 MHz antennas for Telstra and 2.1 GHz antennas for the others.

Complete with 200mm tail of RG174 cable with N plug to connect to your RU400 extension cable. Other lengths and RG58 also available.

 

SMA plug allows the cable tail to be drawn through a hole in the wall in cavity wall installs.

Connect the tail to your RU400 cable, drop it down the wall cavity and with a wire hook draw the cable tail out through the hole in the wall (or use a draw wire first attached to the tail).

Then connect it to the back of the wall plate and screw the wall plate to the wall.

Rubber self amalgamating tape to seal up the connection at the antenna:

10m length 19mm wide by 0.8mm thick $19.95. 300 mm cut length $2.50 

You stretch the tape, then wrap it around the connectors and then squeeze it with your hand and it fuses together and makes a watertight seal.

 

If you just use the low loss cable above and hang it down the wall without an install kit you need the N plug to FME jack adaptor below.

Connect it to the end of the cable and then connect your patch cable to it.
