ST-853 Radio Trunking Controller

Convert existing analogue repeater networks which are wasteful of spectrum resources into modern radio trunking networks with the ST-853 controller. Instead of separate channels handling only few users, you can now have channels that are shared among users and can handle dozens of users. This means you can lower operating costs per user or subscriber and your radio network becomes more competitive relative to alternatives such as single channel community repeaters and mobile phones.

 

The same as telephone networks can trunk calls, that is, share an existing number of lines and switch customers on to those lines according to demand, the SmarTrunk radio trunking system can automatically select repeaters to share resources among subscribers.

 

Each repeater is controlled by an ST-853 controller. The ST-853's are combined and together automatically select whichever repeater or repeaters are required for the trunking function.

 

The level of service required for the subscribers, determines the number of subscribers that can be accommodated on a trunking network. A system with one channel can support a few subscribers and up to 16 channels can be configured in a system allowing up to 4,096 subscribers. 

 

The main advantage of the Smartrunk system over other radio trunking systems is that no dedicated data control channel is required. This means one less radio licence fee, or one extra channel is available for a Smartrunk system increasing the system capacity.

 

Each radio is fitted with a Smartrunk logic board which then becomes the subscriber. Each subscriber is capable of initiating calls to and receiving calls from other subscribers, a group of subscribers, and telephone users (depending on equipment).
